It happens — and it doesn't mean you're not ready. Once your result is verified, we add 3 months of access free, as many times as it takes.

Complete at least 20 cases and achieve 60% or higher on the readiness predictor before your exam date.

Take the NCMHCE. If you don't pass, submit your score report within 14 days of your exam date. The name on it must match your account; this verification keeps the guarantee to one candidate per account.

We extend your access 3 months at no charge once your result is verified, so you can keep practicing for your retake. Repeat after each attempt until you pass.

Taking the NCE?

The NCE has its own Pass Guarantee, sold separately from the NCMHCE plans. It works the same way: pass and your first CE course on CounselorReady is on us, or keep studying at no extra cost until you do.

Choose the NCE Pass Guarantee on the NCE page. It's a one-time purchase, with no renewal and no repayment.

Study until you pass. Your NCE access doesn't expire while the guarantee terms are met.

Complete the check-ins. About six months after purchase, and at the end of each 3-month extension, upload your NCE appointment confirmation or score letter on the NCE score-report page. Each verified upload adds 3 months.

Submit your NCE result within 14 days of your exam. Pass, and you get a free TMH 601 or Mandated Reporter course, redeemable within 90 days. Don't pass, and we add 3 months of NCE access once your result is verified, after each attempt until you pass.

Common questions

How do I claim my free CE course after passing?: Email your unofficial NCMHCE score report to us within 14 days. We'll send you a coupon code for your choice of TMH 601 or Mandated Reporter. Then sign up for a free account at CounselorReady.com, apply your code, and enable CE deadline reminders in your dashboard. We'll email you at 60, 30, and 7 days so you complete the course before your 90-day window closes.
Can I get a refund instead of extended access if I fail?: The guarantee covers extended access, not a refund. We want to keep helping you pass — that's the point.
How long is the extension if I don't pass?: 3 months from the day your non-passing result is verified. No repayment is required.
Can I extend before I take the exam?: Yes. Upload your exam appointment confirmation (a scan, screenshot or PDF) from your account. Once it's verified we add 3 months.
What happens with my score letter?: If you didn't pass, you enter the domain scores from your letter. We compare them with your PassReady practice and build a retake plan for your 3 months, including blind spots: domains you did well on in practice but not on the exam.
Is there a deadline to schedule my retake?: Yes. After a verified non-passing result, upload your next exam appointment confirmation within 90 days of that exam. If no request is made within 90 days, the guarantee is forfeited.
Why do you verify a non-passing result?: To keep each guarantee tied to one candidate and prevent account sharing. The name on your score report must match your account, and we may ask for your official result.
Is there a limit on how many times I can use the guarantee?: No. You can claim it after each attempt until you pass. Each verified non-passing result, submitted within 14 days of that exam, adds 3 more months.
What counts as a "completed case"?: A case where you answered all questions and saw the results screen. Starting and abandoning a case doesn't count.
Does the guarantee cover the NCE?: Yes, through the separate NCE Pass Guarantee. See Taking the NCE? above. Each guarantee covers only its own exam.
What is CounselorReady?: CounselorReady is our board-approved continuing education platform for licensed counselors. Once you pass your exam and get licensed, you'll need CE credits — your free course gets you started.
